A place for curious minds to discover, work and unwind.

Kummel and Kwel, in the tiny hamlet of Schouwerzijl in rural Groningen, is where I put my ideas into practice.

On Saturdays, you’re welcome to drop by for a coffee and the occasional home-baked treat, and to browse the collection of handmade homewares and heirlooms, vintage art, books and more. Perhaps you'll want to take something with you, or ask me to collaborate with you on shaping your space.

During the week, the studio doubles as a homely co-working space. And if you’re keen to stay a little longer, there’s a cosy B&B — a chance to slow down and experience the heritage and landscapes that inspire me.

My little hideaway is small but cosy: watch the sunset from the dyke, curl up in the snug bed nook, or sink into a hot bath after a day of exploring. It’s the sort of place where you can happily lose an afternoon to a good book — or finally make time for that creative project you’ve been meaning to start.

Co-working Space

During the week, the studio is a great place to get some work done - whether that’s reading, writing, answering e-mails, or just looking into the distance while pondering your next business idea.

    • Open monday-friday from 9am to 6pm.

    • Maximum 6 people.

    • €15 per day, €175 per month.

    • High-speed internet.

    • Free coffee and tea.

    • Cold drinks available for a small fee.

    • Swimming spot just a few minutes away - there’s a shower for after (towels available for rent for €5).

    • Various interesting books to read about placemaking and local culture.
